Study in the Holy Land at St. George College - Jerusalem

St. Gregory Nazianzen Orthodox Institute students now have the option to take intensive courses for credit at St. George College in the Holy Land. The College, which is situated only a few minutes from the Old City of Jerusalem, provides courses that combine academic study, spirituality, and travel. Faith is transformed as the student encounters the Holy Land and reflects with other course participants on the meaning of Christian discipleship. Understanding is enhanced as the student listens to trained guides, instructors, and academics. Regular worship opportunities and discussion sessions help the student to meditate on the experience.

While at the College, the student will be introduced to archaeological sites and holy places, including Churches, mosques and synagogues, immersing him/her in the various cultures of the Middle East. In Jerusalem, the student will visit the different quarters of the Old City including the Church of the Resurrection, the Dome of the Rock, and the Temple Mount. In Bethlehem, the student will visit the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. In Galilee, the focus is on the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in Nazareth and around the Sea of Galilee. Excursions to Turkey follow in the footsteps of the Holy Apostle Paul. Excursions to Egypt retrace the lives of the Holy Fathers and Mothers of the desert. The student will not be disappointed as s/he encounters spectacular scenery, stimulating people, and new ideas. After each St. George College course, the student will read the Bible with new eyes, see Christian faith and liturgy in the light of experience and history, and appreciate the complexity of a multi-faith society.
